Apache Indian was born and raised in Handsworth, Birmigham, and in 2014 is Celebrating 25 years in the music business! He was the first Asian artist ever to have any real success in the mainstream pop charts having achieved 7 Top Forty UK Hits and selling over 11 Million Albums worldwide! He has toured the world 5 times over and has just released a new album on Universal Records entitled 'It is What It is'
Apaches' Big Hit song 'Boomshackalak' has been used on 75 International TV commercials campaigns including 'Lynx' feat. Jennifer Anniston & McDonalds across Europe! 'Boomshackalak' has also been feat in 7 Hollywood Movies including 'Dumb & Dumber' & 'Scooby Doo 2'. Apache also has songs featured in 5 Bollywood Movies!
Apache Indian was the first Asian DJ to present his own show on National Radio 1! Apache also presented 'Apache Goes Indian' for Channel 4, 'Soul Music' for ITV, 'Reggae Sound System' for MTV worldwide & is currently presenting 'Real Talk' for BritAsia TV which brings the community together to discuss issues on concern and showcases new artists and bands. 'Real Talk' recently won the award for 'Best Asian TV Show' from The Asian Media Awards in the UK!
Apache has won many music Awards from the Asian & Reggae Industries & has gone on to win many mainstream Awards including 4 Brit Award Nominations, Mercury Music Prize, International Dance Award, Ivor Norvello Award & was recently presented with The Life Time Achievement Award from the UK AMA's in London!
Apache is very passionate about his home town Birmingham and has worked extensively with the community, in Schools, Colleges, with Young Offenders and Social Services! He believes that it is a time for people to stand up and be counted! He has just opened the 'Apache Indian Music (A.I.M) Academy' at South & City College in Handsworth so that he can work directly with students interested in music and work closer with the community!
